Five Best of Monroe: Wings, an illustration of glazed chicken wings in a paper-lined basket

Saturday is football, the weather is cooling off, and nothing beats a basket of wings. We ranked the five best wing spots in Monroe County by Google rating, with review count as the tiebreaker, and gave each one a Best For tag. To make the list, a place had to be a wings-only shop or a spot reviewers keep coming back to for its wings.

1
Best Pure Wings (4.8 ★, 740 reviews)

Wingz And A Prayer

109 Plaza Dr, Pocono Summit, PA 18346 The highest-rated spot on our list, and the only wings-only shop. Reviewers describe big, crispy wings, and one says even plain, with no sauce, they are dynamite. Lemon pepper, buffalo, berry BBQ and honey BBQ get the most shout-outs, and one fan says the sweet chili beats Wingstop. Another, who has lived from Pennsylvania to California, says nothing comes close.

2
Best Wings and a Game of Pool (4.7 ★, 480 reviews)

Teddy’s Tavern

17 N 2nd St, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 A classic small-town tavern with a pool table, a jukebox and a famous cheesesteak. The wings are not your typical bar wings, one reviewer warns: the menu has breaded wings and a wasabi ginger flavor, and another found the ginger wings good but fatty. Order them as a curveball alongside a cheesesteak and a cold draft.

3
Best Wing Night (4.5 ★, 3,300 reviews)

Trackside Grill & Bar

50 Crystal St, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 A casual sports bar in a historic train depot, and regulars say wing night is Wednesday. Reviewers call the wings delicious as always and top notch for the price. My partner James swears by the boneless wings (they look great as I graze on their salad). Outdoor seating is a plus when the weather cooperates.

4
Best Late-Night Wings (4.5 ★, 870 reviews)

The Warrior Grill

418 Main St, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 One regular says the wings are always fresh and that all six sauces he has tried are solid. Others call them top notch and excellent, and one calls them the best he has ever had, though another found them decent but not memorable (sour puss). An older review praises a Tuesday wing special (cheers…this writer is always looking for a deal), but call ahead before you count on it. The kitchen stays open until 2 a.m. (God Bless), and the TVs make it a good place to catch the game.

5
Best Wings and a Pint (4.4 ★, 4,000 reviews)

Barley Creek Brewing & Distilling Co.

1774 Sullivan Trail, Tannersville, PA 18372 Reviewers describe the wings as crispy, packed with flavor and huge, and one swears by the garlic Parmesan sauce. Pair them with a pint of the house beer, and know that outdoor seating is popular. This is a bit out of date, but we hit the bar for lunch on Halloween and they did it right!
